Israel yesterday released Peter Hounam, the British journalist who broke whistle blower Mordechai Vanunu's account of its atomic secrets, after arresting him a day earlier, Israeli media reports said.

Mr Hounam, a reporter for Britain's Sunday Times, interviewed Vanunu in 1986 and had been preparing a documentary on him following the former nuclear technician's release from jail in April.
