What is the role of the European parliamentary committees?
The Committees of the European parliament prepare the debates of the parliament. There are 17 committees. The committees are usually made up of 21 to 65 MEPs and as many deputies. They are run by a chairman who is assisted by three vice-chairmen.
The largest committee with 65 MEPs is the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Security, Human Rights, and Defence Policy.
