Students from the Stagecoach Theatre Arts Schools in Malta and Gozo are working hard at rehearsals for a huge children's concert to be held at the beginning of next month.

The Stagecoach Mega Concert will be a two-hour show comprising 23 songs from a wide variety of Broadway musicals, including Oliver, My Fair Lady, Joseph and His Technicolor Dreamcoat, Annie Get Your Gun, Kiss Me Kate, A Funny Thing Happened on The Way To The Forum, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Cats, The Lion King and Beauty and The Beast.

All the Stagecoach students, aged four to 16, will be taking part. Overall musical direction is in the hands of Ruth Sammut Casingena.

"We strongly believe that if children are lucky enough to come to Stagecoach, then they should put their talents to good use and help raise money for children who are not so lucky!" said senior principal Edward Mercieca.

"The proceeds of this mega concert will be going to the Eden Foundation and the Daniel Delicata Memorial Association. We believe this is an excellent opportunity for Stagecoachers to perform for two great causes. It's really exciting and we are all looking forward to the performances."

The show promises to be a record breaker for Malta as there has never been a concert this big in terms of the number of children on stage. The concert will be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta on June 6-7 at 7.30 p.m. Tickets can be booked on 9944 5030, 2142 2054 or by email: emerc@keyworld.net
