Is abortion an issue for the Nationalist Party now? Why was it not before the referendum?

We, who voted yes for the EU, all knew that in the EU one of the fundamental principles is that of free choice. It is a known fact that the majority of the MEPs within all the three main political blocs in the EP are in favour of legalised abortion. Why scare the Maltese and Gozitans about abortion because Arnold Cassola has a high position in the European Green Party?

Prof. Cassola's stand against abortion has been made clear since he was elected general secretary to the EGP in 1996. Prof. Cassola and AD have been consistent in their position vis-à-vis abortion every time this subject was brought up in public discussion.

All other local candidates for MEPs should make a public declaration, like Prof. Cassola, about their personal stand on abortion. What's keeping them from making a public statement? We will then know who is in favour of abortion and who is against, before we vote on June 12.

This time round, it is not for the PN, MLP or AD we are voting but for five competent individuals who have the credentials to represent us in Brussels.

Trying to gain political mileage by associating Prof. Cassola with abortion because he is the general secretary of the EGP is grossly dishonest and disrespectful for the intelligence of the Maltese and Gozitan electorate.
