Political groups in the European parliament

How many political groups are there in the European parliament?

There are seven main political groups in the European parliament. The three larger groups are the European People's Party and European Democrats (EPP/ED), the Party of European Socialists (PES) and the European Liberal, Democratic and Reformist Group (ELDR) in that order. The other political groups are the European United Left/Nordic Green Left (GUE/NGL), the Greens/European Free Alliance (V/ALE), the Union for Europe of Nations (UEN), and the Europe of Democracies and Diversities (EDD). There are a number of MEPs who are not attached to these main political groups.
