Runaway Division Two leaders Xaghra United sealed their title and won promotion to the top division.

Xaghra's title was confirmed by the results of the weekend after their closest rivals St Lawrence Spurs were defeated 2-1 by Oratory Youths. On their part, Xaghra failed to produce a strong performance in their 1-1 draw against SK Victoria Wanderers.

Joseph Sultana had given Xaghra the lead on 46 minutes but Victoria levelled matters six minutes later thanks to Chris Sciortino.

In the final minutes, Victoria ended with nine players after Charles Spiteri and Michael Tabone were sent off for a second bookable offence.

In the other match from this division, Oratory Youths confirmed their excellent form when chalking up their third victory from as many matches in the third round.

Last weekend, they defeated runners-up St Lawrence Spurs who thus fluffed a golden opportunity to capitalise on Xaghra's draw and lost all hope of pipping them for the title.

The Youths went ahead in the 24th minute through Chris Grech but the Saints gained a 71st minute equaliser by Charles Mercieca. Six minutes from, Oratory snatched the winner through George Vella.
