The Union Haddiema Maghqudin has issued new directives to Malta Tourism Authority employees as the dispute over a new collective agreement remains deadlocked.
The new directives will come into effect on Monday. Workers are not to accept any payments or contributions in cheque or money form and drivers are to refrain from carrying boxes or packets. There will be a ban on extra work on a time-in-lieu basis and a ban on the use of the telephone, except for internal calls.
Cleaners have been directed to clean offices and toilets only and messengers ordered not to perform any duties not directly connected to their work as messengers. Enforcement officers have been asked not to distribute fine notices.
Limited industrial action at the MTA had begun on April 26 after differences between the union and the management on the collective agreement, mainly with regard to the financial package.
Meanwhile, the UHM, Maltapost, the Management Efficiency Unit at the Office of the Prime Minister and IT Ministry officials are today expected to finalise an exercise to analyse the situation at Maltapost in a bid to establish manning levels.
The issue was the cause of industrial action at Maltapost which was suspended last week to allow the exercise to be held.
