The contribution by Salvu Felice Pace (May 18) cannot go unanswered.

First of all, may I bring to Mr Felice Pace's attention that what Fr Colin Apap did in my case was practically the same as Rev. Prof. Peter Serracino Inglott did when he spoke highly of Louis Galea prior to the Nationalist Party leadership contest.

Mr Felice Pace seems to have appointed himself judge of my values and chose to quote an editorial which appeared some time ago in maltastar.com. The editorial was written by a member of the paper's editorial team and I gave it the green light.

The editorial gave a historical account of the conflict between the Roman Catholic Church's point of view and the European mainstream liberal line of thought in view of the government's choice as its representative in the Convention on the Future of Europe.

I thank God that I was not been born in another era because I am sure that the ilk of Mr Felice Pace would have suggested my burning at the stake as the only practical solution to this case. Mr Felice Pace asked what message I wanted to convey with this and other endorsements. The answer is very simple: my aspiration is to be everyone's representative, irrespective of her or his social standing, creed and way of living.

I am not for building more boundaries within our society. I am for putting these boundaries down. I want a decent debate between Labourites, Nationalists and Greens. I want to help employees and employers understand each other better. I want to see people with different values comprehend each other's realities. I want to change things.

Finally, Mr Felice Pace seems to find it difficult to stomach the fact that I write on this paper regularly. I am sorry for him. On my part, I find absolutely no problem in having him as a regular contributor in maltastar.com.
