Farmers from all over Malta and Gozo, producing fruit and vegetables in line with organic methods, were given the opportunity to exhibit their products. A competition for organic products was also held for the first time in Malta involving six different categories - best organic potatoes, best organic tomatoes, best organic zucchini, best collection of organic products, best other products and an overall prize for outstanding achievement.

A total of 12 trophies were distributed in the award ceremony held on Sunday evening, by Francis Agius, Parliamentary Secretary Responsible for Agriculture and Fisheries, in these different categories.

Among the winners were two Gozitan farmers, and the Francosí Foundation. Francosí is a foundation made up of people with special needs. It is currently managing an organic farm at Ghammieri. Francosí won first prize in the category for Best Collection of Organic Produce.

The exhibition was made possible with the support of the Horticultural Society who gave the Organic Farming Unit the opportunity to set up the stand.
