Malta as an ideal site for honeymoons

The 2004 summer edition of the Dutch Bride & Bridegroom magazine has dedicated eight pages to Malta and Gozo, recommending the islands as an ideal destination for weddings and honeymoons.

Over 25 additional pages of the magazine cover five separate photo shoots, which feature various locations around the Maltese islands as backdrops.

The coverage was negotiated by the Malta Tourism Authority's Amsterdam office and includes exposure in the summer edition of the magazine in Holland, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The director of the MTA's Amsterdam office, Carlo Micallef, explained that the initiative fell under the authority's wider promotional plan, focusing on potentially lucrative and less price-sensitive niche markets, such as that of honeymoons and weddings.

Journalists and photographers were brought to Malta for the magazine features by the MTA, working in collaboration with Air Malta and the Corinthia Palace Hotel.
