"Twinkle Twinkle Euro Stars"

Muratori Primary School in Turin hosted the planning Comenius project meeting for this year in which a Maltese school, Dun Karm Scerri Primary of Naxxar, is involved. Teachers from this school and from the other participating schools - Greenmere Primary School, England, Emil Isac Primary School in Romania and CP Carlos III Primary School in Spain - met their Italian counterparts to plan and discuss the project schedule for the next scholastic year.

As next year will be our final year of the project, children from the five schools will work together to share knowledge and experiences about each other's country. This will be achieved through the use of ICT, illustrations and research designed by children, in collaboration with their class teachers, and will be presented in book form so that each and every partner school will be able to include this book in lessons.

Other items discussed during this meeting included the agenda for the headteachers' visit, teacher exchanges within the partner schools as part of enhancing one's professional status, the issue of obtaining sustainable financial support to complete the project and the possibility of pupils' exchange.

During our stay we also had the opportunity to visit some classrooms and learn about teaching methods and strategies used in the school. A school concert with the participation of various year groups was held. Italian children not only demonstrated their drama, musical and singing skills but also managed to integrate this in the Comenius school project.

Later on, traditional gifts were exchanged. Maltese liqueurs as well as a book about Naxxar were given to our Italian friends.

All in all, this was an unforgettable experience where all our partner schools discussed and planned the management of our project.
