The European Union is one of the major trade partners of the United States and with Malta's entry into the EU, the country's potential attraction to American businesses and investors is set to grow.

This and other subjects were the main topics of discussion during the recent signing of a three-year agreement between BoV and the Maltese-American Chamber of Commerce. Through this agreement, BoV is being recognised as the chamber's official bank and sponsor.

The agreement was signed by Alan Cassar, executive head, sales, on behalf of Bank of Valletta, and by Edmund Gatt Baldacchino, president of the Maltese-American Chamber of Commerce.

Mr Cassar reiterated BoV's commitment to assist local entrepreneurs in tapping new potential business opportunities: "Thanks to the signing of this new support agreement, we are actually paving the way for a new collaboration between BoV and the Maltese-American Chamber of Commerce that will offer new opportunities to local businessmen and entrepreneurs as well as to foreign investors from the US wishing to invest in Malta."

Mr Gatt Baldacchino said: "The chamber and all its members are very pleased with this new association with BoV. We are conscious of the bank's ongoing efforts, where through its representative offices especially in North America, the bank seeks to establish professional relationships with the aim of attracting new investment in Malta. This is in line with our philosophy and in this regard, we are looking forward to a closer professional relationship with the bank."

As a result of this agreement, Bank of Valletta will have the opportunity to participate in the chamber's conferences, seminars and other activities whereas the chamber will be channelling all its banking and financial services requirements through BoV.

The chamber will also enjoy the bank's assistance throughout the organisation of incoming and outgoing trade delegations for the benefit of the members of the chamber. All members of the chamber will also start enjoying a number of special benefits on the bank's products and services.
