Boats and moorings in St George's Bay are being removed in view of an embellishment project in the coming weeks.

The Malta Maritime Authority said that all boats, moorings and ground tackle within the bay area close to the immediate coastline and within 90 metres from the shore must be removed by not later than Friday. Any boats, moorings or ground tackle left there will be removed and no liability whatsoever will be accepted for any loss or damages, the MMA warned.

Boat owners in possession of a valid temporary mooring permit issued by the MMA should contact the Yachting Centres Directorate for another mooring arrangement by not later than Friday.

Masters of craft will not be allowed to navigate within the area in question except for the licensed water sports operator there.

The embellishment project is being coordinated by the Malta Tourism Authority and includes a sand replenishment project.
