Launching his MEP campaign Simon Busuttil said he was contesting the European parliament elections with one objective in mind - to contribute to make a success out of EU membership.

On June 12 Dr Busuttil will be contesting the European parliament elections on the Nationalist Party ticket.

Addressing a gathering of well-wishers, Dr Busuttil said EU membership was a dream come true. But we now had to roll up our sleeves and get to work to make the best out of membership.

He recalled his role in the accession process at the head of Malta's public information campaign and as a member of Malta's negotiating team. By contesting the election, he said, he was offering the experience and knowledge he had acquired on the EU to help Malta make a success out of membership.

The launching, on Sunday evening, was also addressed by Roderick Pace, David Agius, Marilou Ciantar and Education Minister Louis Galea.
