Bank of Valletta is now the Gozo Business Chamber's offical bank, after a three-year agreement to this effect was signed was signed recently at the BoV head office in Sliema.
A joint business committee, which will serve as a platform for ongoing discussion and as a facilitator for the BoV and the Chamber, is being set up to propose financial services and schemes for the benefit of the Gozo business community.
The agreement was signed by the president of the Gozo Business Chamber, Dr Michael Caruana, and BoV retail banking chief officer, Igino Xuereb.
"This agreement confirms Bank of Valletta's ongoing efforts to promote and sustain Gozo's economic and infrastructural development," Mr Xuereb said. "We are fully aware of the island's specific requirements and this new agreement will serve as an ideal opportunity to discuss new opportunities as they arise with all stakeholders who are directly involved in the promotion of business with and within Gozo."
Mr Xuereb also announced that BoV and the Gozo Business Chamber will be organising and presenting three awards to the chamber members every year in recognition of their business commitment and efforts towards the well being of Gozo.
Dr Caruana said that it is very important that the BoV and the Gozo Business Chamber support each other. "Through the bank's support, the chamber would be able to offer a better service to its members and is looking forward to holding joint seminars and other activities for the benefit of the Gozitan businessmen," he said.
