Masterful Borg inspires Northenders

For the second week in a row Mellieha Northenders pitcher Marlon Borg led his team to victory, this time over Gzira Mustangs.

Borg was masterful in allowing just one earned run on three hits, all singles, over five innings.

He also struck out five and walked three to earn a third win of the season.

Keith Bartolo did the most damage offensively for the Northenders when he hit his league leading third home-run off Gzira's starting pitcher Andrew Bajo in the first inning.

It was a three-run shot over the left field fence which gave Bartolo the league lead in 'runs batted in' with 12. He is one ahead of Gozo's Jeff Tabone with 11.

Meanwhile, the Gozo-Swieqi match was postponed and rescheduled for May 8 at Marsa at 2 p.m.
