Opportunities seen in US with EU membership
The European Union is one of the major trade partners of the United States and with Malta's entry the country's potential attractiveness in view of American businesses and investors is set to increase.
This and other subjects were the main topics of discussion at the signing of a three-year agreement between Bank of Valletta and the Maltese American Chamber of Commerce. Through this agreement, Bank of Valletta is being recognised as the chamber's official bank and sponsor.
The agreement was signed by Alan Cassar on behalf of Bank of Valletta and Edmund Gatt Baldacchino, president of the Maltese American Chamber of Commerce.
Speaking following the signing of the agreement, Mr Cassar reiterated Bank of Valletta's commitment to assist local entrepreneurs in tapping new potential business opportunities. "Thanks to the signing of this new support agreement, we are actually paving the way for a new collaboration between BOV and the Maltese American Chamber of Commerce that will offer new opportunities to local businessmen and entrepreneurs as well as to foreign investors from the US wishing to invest in Malta."
Mr Gatt Baldacchino said "the chamber and all its members are very pleased of this new association with Bank of Valletta. We are conscious of the bank's ongoing efforts where through its representative offices, especially in North America, the bank seeks to establish professional relationships with the aim of attracting new investment in Malta. This is in line with our philosophy and in this regard, we are looking forward to a closer professional relationship with the bank".
