An English woman was yesterday conditionally discharged for 18 months for filing a false police report.

Magistrate Lawrence Quintano found Emma Louise Mullally, 22, guilty of filing a report in which she claimed that her bag had been stolen in May last year.

On handing down judgment the magistrate noted that Mullally had a clean criminal record.

Police Inspector Carmelo Bartolo prosecuted.

Dr Stefano Filletti appeared for the defendant.
