The InterContinental Hotels Group, which operates the InterContinental Malta, was this month ranked as the world's largest hotel company in MKG Consulting's annual ranking of hotel companies. MKG Consulting is a consultant in the hospitality industry.

The InterContinental Hotels Group has 3,520 owned, managed, leased and franchised hotels, and 536,318 guest rooms in nearly 100 countries and territories around the world.

The InterContinental Malta, which opened last year, is the largest five-star operation here, with 451 rooms.
