The Malta Tourism Authority's third edition of the Malta Fireworks Festival will conclude the celebrations marking Malta's entry into the EU.
The festival will be held in the Grand Harbour on May 8 and 9 in the evening.
Over the two evenings, 21 of Malta and Gozo's firework factories will be demonstrating their creativity.
There will also be musical entertainment, band marches and water displays.
The festival will incorporate a breathtaking display of ground fireworks, commonly known as giggifogu (derived from the Italian gioco di fuoco). Aerial fireworks will be let off from different parts of the Grand Harbour.
Sea transport to and from the Grand Harbour's Customs House will be provided on both evenings from 7 - 8 p.m. and from 11 p.m. to 12.30 a.m., from Sliema Ferries by Captain Morgan Boats and from the Vittoriosa and Senglea wharfs by the traditional dghajsa.
A special return trip between Gozo and Malta is to be operated by Gozo Channel on May 8 at 6 p.m.
The main sponsor is Farsons Special Brews.
Entrance to the festival will be free of charge. Seating is available at the cruise liner terminal quay at Lm2 per person. Booking is recommended.
