Three arrested over necklace robbery

The police yesterday arrested three people suspected of being involved in a daring necklace robbery that had taken place a short while earlier in Birzebbuga.

A couple were walking along the Pretty Bay promenade early in the afternoon when a person snatched the woman's necklace from her neck and escaped in a car.

The woman was unhurt.

A search was mounted immediately by district police and members of the Administrative Law Enforcement unit, and three persons were soon caught in Ghar Lapsi in connection with the robbery, the police said.

The investigations are being carried out by Birzebbuga district police.
