The National Statistics Office has switched to a new system for compiling tourist arrivals.
It used to compile the statistics on the basis of the disembarkation cards that foreign passengers filled in upon their arrival in Malta. EU nationals have now been exempted from this requirement as from April this year.
"In view of this and given that the basic source of tourist arrival statistics has now been removed, the NSO would like to inform its users that such statistics will henceforth no longer be available," it said yesterday.
The last statistical release based on the disembarkation-card system was published on April 14 for the month of March 2004.
The NSO will continue to publish tourism statistics regularly on the basis of the inbound tourism survey.
The results of this survey are available for every month with a time series going back to January 2001.
