Jailed on prostitution charges

A 44-year-old Valletta man was yesterday sentenced to three years imprisonment after he was found guilty of charges relating to prostitution.

George Farrugia was found guilty by Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani Grima of having enticed a woman and a 16-year-old girl to prostitution. He was also charged with living off the earnings of prostitution.

Farrugia was also found guilty of slightly injuring both the woman and the girl, with causing damage to the woman's apartment and with being a relapser.

Inspector Ramon Mercieca prosecuted.
