The University Students Council, through its social policy commission, yesterday called on the government to reverse the decision to delay the introduction of the smoking ban.
"Smoking and second hand smoke pose serious public health risks, not least to workers in establishments where smoking will still be allowed. KSU, through KPS, condemns the Malta Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises (GRTU) for using bullying tactics to impose their will and totally disregarding the health of the public," it said.
KSU's social policy commission includes all student organisations recognised by the university senate.
KSU also congratulated the Malta Medical Students' Association for their initiative in organising the first university student Smoke-Free Party.
The party, aptly named Air, will be held at Castille Wine Vaults, in Valletta today.
