To term the faculty of law at the University of Malta a disgrace would not be far from the truth. The total disregard it has for its students is shameful, especially since it caters for one of the most heavily followed courses. Truth is, they seem to want to make our life harder, and though nothing is easy, or can be expected to be so, one cannot get by alone. In Beatles parlance, we need a little help from our friends to get by, and the faculty, in theory, should be our best friend.

The countless times I have presented myself on campus only to find out that a lecture has been cancelled, have begun to irritate me. The faculty seems to think we have nothing better to do than to keep our eyes glued to the noticeboard, which is, as they very well know, not the case, therefore they cannot post notices on the noticeboard the evening prior to an 8 a.m. lecture when no student is around! Have they heard of the internet?

A simple post on a website, easy and accessible to all, might be a good idea. Also, as regards lectures that may be delivered to us by local ministers or the like, it is incredible how the faculty can be defiant in insisting that a certain minister will be delivering the due lecture when, indeed, he is known to be abroad. I was once told by a lecturer to pull my socks up. I think it is high time that such advice be passed on to the faculty itself.
