More comparable data and research were required across the European Union to monitor cardiovascular diseases, relevant health behaviours and risk factors, a heart health conference in Ireland concluded.

The conference found that in the EU, although rates of mortality from cardiovascular disease were decreasing, more men and women were living with the disease.

A Maltese nutritionist from the Health Promotion Department attended the Cork conference, which had as it main theme Promoting Heart Health - A European Consensus, thanks to a sponsorship by Flora, which formed part of the company's commitment towards education for better heart health in Malta.
