What a let down for a government to put off, for a whole year, the banning of cigarette smoking in public places. Here in Ireland, the ban is just over one week old and already we can hear talk about how clean a smokeless room, with about 100 persons, can be.

I would have thought that non-smokers would boycott bars, restaurants etc., that allow smoking, maybe that should change the owners' minds. The change is being observed by all, except for one, a minister, who was sacked by the government for smoking in a public place. Now that is what is called a serious government.

I think that the Minister of Health should ban smoking in public places as soon as he possibly can, and not be afraid. Give everyone a chance to breathe clean air, and not be a passive smoker.

Another aspect one notices is that those who really want to smoke can step outside, where tables and chairs can be found, to have their puffs.

At least in Malta there is beautiful weather. Here in Ireland raining is the order of the day, and night.
