Five men whose names cannot be published by court order, whose ages range between 17 - 23, were yesterday given a two year jail term suspended for four years on being found guilty of a string of 57 charges that include the theft of 11 cars, eight car stereos and other items.

Two 17-year-olds from Hamrun, two 19-year-olds from Qormi and Hamrun and a 23-year-old also from Hamrun were arraigned by Inspector Stephen Mallia.

The thefts took place between late December last year and early last month.

The men were also found guilty of causing wilful damage to the cars they stole and others they stole from.

Dr Edward Zammit Lewis, Dr Roberto Montalto, Dr Ian Farrugia, Dr Martin Fenech, Dr Toni Abela and Dr Victor Scerri appeared for the accused.
