Maltese authors and publishers are invited to participate in the literary prizes and subsidies event, organised by the National Book Council, by submitting literary works that were published in 2002 and 2003.

The work classified first gets Lm600, a trophy and a certificate, while second prize is Lm250 and a certificate.

The competition is divided into eight categories, prose fiction, prose non-fiction, poetry, drama, juvenile literature, work of an academic/scientific/technical nature, translations, and a book on a subject in the above categories, written by a Maltese author in another language.

A certificate will also be awarded to the publisher of a book, classified in the first and second place in each category.

Competition regulations were published in the Government Gazette on March 23 and, together with applications, can be obtained from the National Book Council, Central Public Library, Floriana CMR 02, or on tel. 2122 2654.

The closing date for the submission of applications is April 30.
