Malta has been accepted to participate in the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP) Training of Trainers network.
This was announced during the sixth annual CEDEFOP TT net Conference, recently held in Thessaloniki, Greece. Professor Ronald Sultana, who represented Malta at the conference, was assigned the task of establishing the TT networks in new EU member states. ETC Training Services Manager Joe Cutajar was appointed by CEDEFOP to act as national co-ordinator for TT net Malta.
Established in 1988, the network serves as a discussion forum at both national and EU level. In the former, the network acts as a platform between key actors, main experts and policy-makers and at the same time contributes to the identification, analysis and dissemination of innovative approaches in key priority areas for the training of vocational teachers and trainers. At the EU level it serves as an interface with other networks and the community network.
During the conference, the national networks were urged to strengthen themselves through the active involvement in public authorities and the private sector, to enhance information flow and communication both within and between networks and further develop synergies with existing frameworks at national and international levels.
The local TT network and the official Website will be launched on April 21. Trainers, vocational teachers and training organisations will be invited to join the network. Those interested can e-mail: ttnetmalta@hotmail.com.
