The baggage trailers service offered by Gozo Channel will start again from Monday, following agreement between the company and the Union Haddiema Maghqudin.

The baggage service for people using the ferry was introduced in 2000 but was withdrawn last November after industrial action was ordered by the union over a dispute on methods of work. Gozo Channel patrons have been complaining ever since of the hardship the lack of service has caused them.

Gozo Channel general manager Marvic Fenech Adami yesterday said the service would resume operations as from Monday. He said an agreement between the company's management, the union and the workers was reached following various meetings.

Mr Fenech Adami said the company acknowledged the importance of the service and the inconvenience that its stoppage "might have caused" to consumers. He asked the public to cooperate and not "turn up a few minutes before departure time" if they wanted to make use of the service.
