Can anybody from San Gwann local council inform the residents of Naxxar Road about what they are doing regarding traffic regulations in our road, which happens to be the main road in our town?

We are supposed to have a warden service in the morning and late afternoon but where are the wardens? Recently we have seen them less and less. Chaos used to exist in this street and still is at hand. You see people parking on corners, on bus stops and in every other place where there are yellow lines and hardly anyone is booked. Only the unfortunate one or two, probably just for the record.

One particular spot that is very dangerous is the corner between Naxxar Road and St Francis Street. Cars and vans park there at random (even on the bus stop situated very near), stopping to go into a tea shop which is situated very near to this corner. Traffic coming down from St Francis Street has to go out half way into Naxxar Road (risking having an accident) to see if any traffic is coming up from the lower end of Naxxar Road.

If we do not have a competent service of a warden who will see that this situation is remedied, who will be responsible for damage in such accidents - the local council? The warden? I have complained many times by e-mail to the council and have even sent photographs of offending vehicles but it seems these were thrown into the garbage bin because to date this is still the practice.

What is the local warden doing when he graces us with his presence? Walking up and down the road with his eyes wide shut? Can anybody tell us how many fines the warden issued since the beginning of January? How many fines per working hour are recorded? It would be interesting to know!

We residents have to face other problems here. As the street is busy with shops we are finding it difficult to find parking space in our own street and a parking limit was introduced for non-residents - a limit of 40 minutes. Obviously residents are exempt from this but what is happening? Shop owners and their employees, who are not residents in this street, park their cars for hours on end, and to the amazement of all, these were never booked for contravening this regulation because they are still parking there. The shop owners and their employees have no right to park their cars in the street for more than 40 minutes - so why haven't they been booked?
