A junior local council consisting of children aged between 10 and 14 yesterday met to file motions for the attention of the Msida local council.
The idea behind the setting up of the junior local council is to instill in children a love for their town and help them become more aware of how a local council works and is administered.
This experiment is intended to mark the 10th anniversary since local councils were first instituted.
Msida mayor Malcolm Mifsud said the children met several times at the council and compiled a list of the improvements they would like to see at Msida.
"The junior council will pass on to the councillors their list of priorities for us to discuss and approve those that the council feels should be acted upon," Dr Mifsud said.
Sonya Camilleri, Commissioner for Children, and Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici, parliamentary secretary responsible for local council, attended the meeting.
