The 12th edition of Wings Over Ta' Qali, an event organised by the Malta Model Aircraft Flying Association, will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
The guest of honour is again Sebastiano Silvestri, an Italian national aerobatic champion and one of the Las Vegas Tournament of Champions pilots. Silvestri will be performing his aerobatics to music and will be flying the same model he used in Las Vegas. This year a small group of Italian and German enthusiasts are planning to participate in the event as well.
Apart from a large static display, there will be continuous thrilling solo and mass flying displays, by scale replicas of full size aircraft, aerobatic and other sport models.
Also scheduled to fly are models with miniature gas turbines. These recent additions provide the ultimate in flight realism, with their impressive reserve of power and the authentic sound of their full size cousins.
Other guests this year include the Armed Forces of Malta and the Missione Militare Italiana. The Aviation Museum will be in attendance and the Historic Vehicles Association are also expected to exhibit their military vehicles. The Hal Far Model Aircraft Flying Association is also taking part.
Gates at Ta' Qali open on Saturday from 2 to 6.30 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. For more information contact Claude Markham on tel. 2381 6054 or 7929 5454
