Go Mobile has announced tariffs for Go Live! MMS and Go Online GPRS and Wi-Fi access. These tariffs, which come into effect on Thursday, offer better value in the local market and provide prepaid and contract subscribers with affordable rates for both wireless Internet access as well as multimedia messaging.

Any MMS sent from a Go Live! mobile phone to any local mobile phone number will be priced at 18c, whether the MMS is smaller or larger than 30 Kbytes (given that the maximum size of the MMS is 100 Kbytes). The MMS may consist of photos, pictures as well as audio and video messages. To date, Go Mobile is still trying to reach an MMS interconnect agreement with Vodafone.

"With Go Mobile, one does not have to worry about the size of one's MMS to know the price that will be charged for its transmission. Our subscribers will simply pay 18c for each MMS sent to any local mobile number, or to any e-mail address," Go Mobile CEO Professor Juanito Camilleri said.

When roaming abroad, additional standard CSD or GPRS roaming rates will apply when sending MMS. Visit www.go.com.mt for more details.

From April 1 Go Online GPRS and Wi-Fi tariffs will also be introduced for both prepaid and contract subscribers. Go Mobile is offering different tariffs according to the needs of its customers. With GPRS, Go Mobile subscribers pay for the amount of data they send or receive and not according to the time they are connected.

A typical use of GPRS is to connect one's laptop or other wireless device to the Internet or company Intranet via a wireless PC card or dongle containing a go mobile SIM card. GPRS rates for such an application range between 0c5 and 2c per 10 Kbytes, depending on the chosen tariff. At the extreme, heavy Internet users can opt for a GPRS bundle of 50 Mbytes at a monthly access fee of Lm15 (or Lm16 a month if payment is not via a direct debit mandate) which translates to as little as 30c per megabyte. Visit www.go.com.mt for more details on tariffs when accessing GPRS while roaming.

Go Mobile's rates for accessing WAP on one's mobile phone via GPRS is 2c per 10 Kbytes. A kilobyte is equivalent to around six SMSs worth of text. This tariff is applicable for both prepaid and contract subscribers. When accessing WAP via CSD a tariff of 5c a minute applies.

Go Mobile's added advantage in wireless Internet connectivity is Wi-Fi, a technology that compliments GPRS. With Wi-Fi, Go Online subscribers automatically have access to the Internet or company Intranet at broadband speeds via their laptop or other wireless device in 14 hotspots in Malta and Gozo. These hotspots cover many five- and four-star hotels, public places in Valletta, conference centres, the University of Malta, yacht marinas, shopping centres and hospitals. Depending on the Go Online tariff plan chosen, Wi-Fi access ranges from Lm1.80 to Lm2.40 per hour, with charges incurred on a per second basis.

"Go Mobile was the first local mobile operator to offer GPRS on a trial basis, as well as to launch Wi-Fi in Malta. With the information we have gathered over the past few years, Go Mobile is now in a position to launch tariffs that are affordable and accessible to everyone's pockets. Go Mobile is the only local operator which bundles Wi-Fi access with GPRS," Professor Camilleri said.

All tariffs quoted are inclusive of VAT. For further information, visit any one of Go Mobile's Customer Contact Centre located in Marsa Head Office, Bay Street (St Julian's), Msida, Embassy Shopping Complex (Valletta), Malta International Airport, Fgura and Victoria (Gozo). One can also call Go Care on 146 from any Go Mobile line, 7922-2146 from other lines or visit www.go.com.mt
