New minister responsible for consumer affairs

My area of interest being consumer affairs, I must compliment Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi on his choice of Minister Censu Galea to take charge of consumer affairs.

Back in 1994 when, through our column, we were running our "Date good, no date bad" campaign for a 'use by' date on our milk cartons, it was Mr Galea as Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, who brought our campaign to a positive conclusion. Indeed, when it seemed that we were getting nowhere, he successfully intervened on our behalf and saw to it that we got our date.

Moreover in 2001, still through our column, we were running our campaign for the removal of our personal details from our windscreen licences. Mr Galea (seen above giving me the good news) did it again, this time as Minister of Transport and Communications.

In the absence of any dialogue with Paul Galea, Director of Traffic, I had a very meaningful dialogue with Minister Galea and his staff. Thanks to his intervention, our second campaign was positively concluded. At that point, we were able to tell consumers, "Happy parking with peace of mind!"

If I may borrow Sir Humphrey Appleby's famous words, "Yes, Minister", we look forward to working with you!
