Young Enterprise wanted to introduce new programmes for primary school children, chairman Josef Camilleri said yesterday.
Speaking at the opening of the YE national trade fair at the Sliema ferries, Mr Camilleri said YE believed this was important to continue preparing children to be more competitive and productive in the economy.
During the opening of the fair, which was inaugurated by Education Minister Louis Galea, HSBC renewed its sponsorship of YE. Young Enterprise, which involves sixth form students, is a competition aimed at bridging the gap between classroom and workplace.
Thirteen teams are taking part in this year's competition. from Junior College, St Edward's College, St Aloysius College, Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary, Verdala International School, De La Salle College and MCAST Business and Commerce.
The fair is open today from 8.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.
