The Nationalist Party Women's Movement noted with satisfaction that three women MPs were given responsibilities of a ministry or a parliamentary secretariat in the new Cabinet announced by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi.

This clearly showed the government's commitment towards women in political life and in Maltese society.

The MNPN also noted that the front bench of the government now included Giovanna Debono, Dolores Cristina and Helen D'Amato.

This is the first time in Maltese political history that there have been so many women in the country's executive, the MNPN said.
