Only last week bikers made a spectacular manifestation in order to raise awareness of their situation with regards to the unjustified rise of up to 400 per cent of their insurance premiums.
I would like to draw the attention of those concerned regarding apparent agreements which restrict competition, which are in breach of Article 81 of the EC Treaty. This anti-competitive behaviour justifies the intervention of the authorities.
It is not the case that bikers do not want to insure their machines, but they are being placed in a position that no other option is available. What are insurances there for, if not to issue policies of insurance, as required by law?
Bikers feel they are being blackmailed and are trying to draw the attention of everybody in the only way they know - riding their beloved bikes. I would appreciate readers' views with regards to this situation, the same way The Times justly dealt with the anti-smoking campaign.
