If you feel you've been neglecting yourself, now is the time to get your treat and give a helping hand for charity at the same time.

The MCAST's Institute of Community Services is holding the ninth edition of the Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy Marathon at Studio 7 on the Birkirkara Bypass until 11 p.m. today.

The 36-hour marathon started yesterday morning. Taking part, whether in organisation or the marathon proper, are the institute's 400 students accompanied by about 60 professional beauty therapists and hairdressers. Colourist Teri Dougherty, a Wella international hair artist, is also offering her professional services.

They are raising funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the YMCA and the Deaf Association. Services being offered at reduced prices include blow-drys, haircuts, lights, colour, treatments, manicures, facials and any kind of beauty treatment.

There is also a car wash and an art exhibition.

Money is also being raised through phone contributions. The marathon is being televised on Education 22.

A total of Lm110,000 were raised in past editions, the money having been donated to the Hospice Movement, Caritas, the Deaf Association, the OASI Foundation, Osanna Pia, St Patrick's School, the Prison Fellowship, the Richmond Foundation and the Mental Health Association.

Donations of Lm5 can be made on tel. 5004 9885 and Lm10 donations on tel. 5004 9880.
