The next intake of students for Certificate, Diploma, Masters and Doctorate programmes with the Centre for Labour Market Studies, University of Leicester, will start on April 5 and applications are currently being accepted. Apart from the four-page application form, two completed reference forms, copies of certificates, a transcript (if applicable), three passport photos and a completed sponsorship form (if applicable) are needed. Doctorate applicants must also submit a detailed outline of an initial research proposal of 300 words. Application forms may be collected from the FHRD in San Gwann and must be submitted personally to Daniela Gouder, course co-ordinator.

The vetting process takes approximately three weeks. Applications are first seen by the centre and are then sent to the Higher Degree Office for recommendation.

The entry requirements for the courses differ accordingly. All applicants must be at least 21 years of age and have good knowledge of the English language.

For the Certificate in Training Practice and the Certificate in Training Practice and Human Resource Management an 'A' Level standard of education or equivalent is required.

Applicants interested in the Diploma in Training and Development or the Diploma in Human Resource Management, must possess an 'A' Level standard of education or equivalent or could have successfully completed to a specified standard the CLMS Certificate. A minimum of three years relevant work experience is expected.

Applicants for the M.Sc. in Training, M.Sc. in Training and Human Resource Management and the M.Sc. in Training and Performance Management must have a first or second class honours degree, have successfully completed to a specified standard one of the CLMS Diploma or have an acceptable professional qualification with suitable practical experience. A minimum of three years relevant work experience is also expected.

Those interested in the Taught Doctorate in Social Sciences with a specialisation in human resources development must possess a relevant Masters degree, preferably at distinction level, and must have a minimum of three years relevant work experience. Applications are also subject to a detailed outline of an initial research proposal, the viability and quality of which will be of crucial significance in determining eligibility for entry.
