Four members of the Let me Learn (LML) team have recently attended a training course at Rowan University, New Jersey, USA. The three-day intensive course was the first of a series of training sessions, held between January and June, which will enable the participants to become fully qualified trainers in the LML process.

Ms Joanne Cassar, a Junior College lecturer, Mr Ray Debono Roberts, Ms Michelle Attard Tonna and Ms Valerie Salerno are partaking in this training together with other educators in the US. They have also had the unique opportunity to visit schools in New Jersey and observe various lessons with teachers endorsing and applying the LML process in their pedagogy.

The LML proeess, which was introduced in the US by Professor Christine A. Johnston, is becoming increasingly popular among American and European educators, students and parents. Educators from various countries are becoming aware of the benefits that this positive attitude towards learning offers to their students. It is a means whereby the learner is empowered and encouraged to develop and exploit his/her own learning strategies.

Mr Colin Calleja, lecturer at the University of Malta in the Faculty of Education, and LML co-ordinator, has commenced the instruction and application of this process in Malta. Together with Mr Bernard Cauchi, he has provided training for teachers who have shown interest in becoming better educators and find pedagogical approaches tkat most benefit their students. The LML team is expected to expand on the services it is providing to meet the demand of the ever-increasing number of teachers and other interested parties who wish to experience a new attitude towards learning while creating positive communication in any team.
