A 64-year-old man was yesterday conditionally discharged for 18 months by Magistrate Abigail Lofaro after he pleaded guilty to charges of tampering with his electricity meter.

Giovanni Maria Sammut was charged by Inspector Kevin J. Farrugia with having, in March 2002, tampered with his meter and with having stolen Lm244.35 worth of electrical current.

After noting that Sammut had paid all outstanding amounts due by him to Enemalta, the court conditionally discharged him for 18 months.
