An appeal by Pembroke Tumas Group against the decision of the Protests' Board to uphold BUPA Luxol's claim against the validity of the result of Saturday's first leg of the Louis Borg Cup final, was rejected by the MBA Appeals Board yesterday.
Pembroke lost their right to contest this weekend's Louis Borg Cup final after on Wednesday the Protests' Board ruled that they had breached the competitions' rule regarding U-19 players.
In Saturday's first leg, Pembroke youngster Matthew Zammit committed his fifth foul of the match and was replaced by a senior player with only nine seconds of the tie remaining, triggering a protest from their opponents.
The tie was originally won by Pembroke 50-44 but Luxol were later awarded a 20-0 win and they advanced to this weekend's final after being declared overall winners of the tie, 96-77.
The first leg of the Louis Borg Cup final between Luxol and Siggiewi takes place tomorrow with the second and final tie being played on Sunday.
