Mediators serving in the family court are currently setting up the Malta Family Mediation Forum, which would promote professional standards on a par with those in European Union countries.

Membership in the forum is open to all mediators who have received training in the field.

Recent legislation made mediation mandatory in all marital separation cases in Malta. Representatives of the mediators as well as the Chamber of Advocates have been helping with the law and its implementation, by drawing up guidelines for marital separation mediators to follow.

Malta Dispute Management Ltd, which organises training for separation mediators, is offering the services of qualified members of the MDM Family Mediation Forum, for those requiring private mediation.
