The General Workers' Union is evaluating what action it could take to protect the rights of employees at One Productions after a worker was sacked.
The GWU explained that on March 9, the union and the employee, Mary Cefai, had presented a warrant for a prohibitory injunction to be issued to prevent procedures relating to her dismissal. One Productions was notified the next day, and given two days in which to answer.
The union had requested that the company call off the board meeting about an accusation against Ms Cefai as it would be in breach of the collective agreement.
However, the union said One Productions called a meeting of the board of discipline before answering to the prohibitory injunction and terminated Ms Cefai's employment on March 10.
The GWU said all this was brought to the attention of the court, which was still waiting for the answer from One Productions.
GWU services and media section secretary Karmenu Vella described One Production's behaviour as showing a lack of respect towards the employees' basic rights and the country's judicial authorities.
