A Libyan man was yesterday given a two-year jail term suspended for three years for damaging two cars.

Hamsa Mohammed Abdalla, 26, pleaded guilty to damaging the cars on March 10.

He explained to the police that he had damaged one car because he thought it belonged to people who had robbed him of all his money and damaged the second to break in because he needed money.

On handing down judgment Magistrate Abigail Lofaro noted that Abdalla had a clean criminal record and had cooperated with the police.

Inspector Frans Micallef prosecuted.

Dr Roberto Montalto appeared for Abdalla.
