Umberto Bossi, the firebrand leader of Italy's right-wing populist Northern League party, suffered a heart attack yesterday and was rushed to hospital in serious but stable condition, authorities said.
Mr Bossi, reforms minister in Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's government, was put on artificial respiration in a hospital's cardiac intensive care unit, but his life was not in danger, a doctor said.
