CAMILLERI. On March 9, LORENZA née Fleri, aged 90, widow of Joseph, of Kalkara, passed away to join the Risen Lord at St Peter's Home, Lija. She leaves to mourn her loss her son Vincent, her grand-daughter Pamela and her husband Paul Muscat and their children Kira, Sasha Jan and Lee, and her grandson Steve, his wife Ruth and their children Nina and Michelle, nephews, nieces, in-laws, families and friends. The funeral leaves St Peter's Home today at 3.15 p.m. for Our Saviour parish church, Lija, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m., followed by interment at Lija cemetery. She leaves to mourn her deep loss her beloved children Tony and his wife Carmen, Joe and his wife Sue, her beloved grandchildren Roslyn, Duncan and his fiancée Michelle, her brothers Louis, Twanny and Raymond, her sister Agnes, her brother-in-law Paul and their spouses, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P. Gender discrimination
The European Law Students' Association will be holding a seminar on gender discrimination on Saturday.
The seminar will be held at the International Maritime Law Institute, at the University of Malta.
Founded in 1981, ELSA is the largest independent law students' organisation, with a membership in excess of 25,000 students and young lawyers in over 37 countries.
Two judges from the European Court of Human Rights will discuss the international dimension while the Maltese and refugee situation will be dealt with by Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera and Kathrine Camilleri. The panel will be composed entirely of women.
A participation fee will be charged.

Prayer meeting
Maltese university students will be able to join Pope John Paul II in a prayer meeting which will be broadcast live by satellite on Saturday in the 10 states that will be joining the EU on May 1.
University students and other young people are invited to be at the university chapel at 5.30 p.m. The Archbishop, Mgr Joseph Mercieca, will lead the prayers.
The prayer meeting with the theme Christ, The Hope Of Europe, will be held in celebration of European University Day.
The climax of the meeting will be a Marian evening at the Vatican.
Consular Section Closed
The US consular section in Floriana will be closed to the public today in view of construction works. It will re-open to the public on Friday.

Account Holders Celebrated
Ninety winners of the HSBC Karus account drawing competition enjoyed a celebratory party at the Baystreet complex in St Julians. The drawing competition was organised over the Christmas period and all Karus account holders were eligible to participate.
Home composting
WasteServ Malta Ltd. will be organising a talk on home composting at Phoenix Building, Sta Venera (opposite St Philips Hospital) on Friday at 7 p.m.
During the activity, Cynthia Farrugia from Friend's of the Earth Malta, will present a demonstration on practical home composting methods.
The aim of the talk is to encourage householders to take up composting initiatives.
WasteServ said organic materials such as leaves, grass clippings, food scraps and soiled paper make up almost 50 per cent of our solid waste and by composting that material at home one can divert it from landfills.
The composting process can take from six weeks to over a year, depending on the method and materials used.
WasteServ Malta Ltd. has several compost bins available for sale at a subsidised price.

Paper on ritualism
James Laidlaw, lecturer in anthropology at the University of Cambridge and a world expert on religious ritual, will present a paper to the Work in Progress seminars entitled Ritualism And The Anthropology of Sacrifice in lecture theatre 1 at the University of Malta on March 17 at 6 p.m.
The paper will discuss the act of religious suicide and its terrific importance in Jainism, contrasted with other ideas of religious death or martyrdom.
Dr Laidlaw has conducted fieldwork in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Taiwan and Mongolia. He is the author of many books, including The Archetypal Actions of Ritual and The Essential Edmund Leach.
