Appreciation - Francis X. Zammit
Harry C. Zammit writes:
An old friendship will never die. My dear and close cousin Franz has left us for a better place in heaven. The last six months, Franz suffered with silence and a smile, courage and complete trust in the God Almighty. His most dedicated wife Maria was always there at his side, nursing him and making sure that Franz was given the best of help and assistance so very ably provided.
To those who knew him, Franz was a gentleman both in society and in commercial circles. I for one will miss him very much.
Every Tuesday we would meet at his office for a chat and a drink. His office was always open to anyone, as Franz had the rare gift of sharing with others, whether a word of advice, a charitable donation, etc.
In the good old days, he would invite my wife and I to join them on their frequent holidays and quite remarkably he would drive single handed all the way from Sicily to most parts of northern Europe.
His stamina and love for cars and driving was something which impressed me.
Franz has the rare gift of always looking at the bright side and was blessed with a talent for music. In his school days, as a student of St Aloysius' College, he was always the main singer in the musical plays held there.
To his wife, Maria, his children Gerald, and Julian in-laws and grandchildren, I would like to express sincere condolences for the loss of such a unique person. May he rest in peace, on the shoulder of the Good Shepherd. Il-Kugin Harry and Is-Sa Ross shall always remember him in our prayers.
